As partner at Mayfield co-leading the engineering biology practice with Ursheet Parikh, and prior as the founder of IndieBio, Arvind redefined the pace and possibilities of early stage biotech, investing in over 150 companies in five years, defining human and planetary health, and growing the IndieBio portfolio into billions of dollars in value. Arvind focuses on using biology as a technology to solve the world’s biggest unmet needs - climate change, pollution, cancer, autoimmune disease and rare diseases.

Arvind Gupta co-leads Mayfield’s engineering biology practice with Ursheet Parikh and is Founder and Venture Advisor at IndieBio, the world's leading biotech accelerator. IndieBio helped ignite the alternative protein movement and biology as a technology to tackle climate change, pandemics and human health. Under his leadership IndieBio built its portfolio to $3.6 billion dollars with 136 companies in 6 years.
Prior to founding IndieBio, Arvind was Design Director at IDEO where he earned numerous international design awards and presented his work at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He is also a competitive jiu-jitsu grappler and was a BASE jumper and big wall climber.
